Eddie Cointreau
Eddie Cointreau is the latest in a long line of guises for glasgow based producer and dj richard skinner. Under this guise he has crafted some spectacular acidic tech-house which has won him favour with the like of Subculture's Harri who has been known to drop some of eddie cuts in the sub club on many an occasion.
Eddie's first ep, the hungrily titled, "nacho man ep", on his own blart:trax imprint garnered Eddie interest from other labels and eddie has completed remixes for the likes of hans bouffmhyre for backwater community recordings (available on beatport) and Gary Beck for artificial science records (forthcoming)
In a drunken frenzy of creativity Eddie rejiggered and acidised Malcolm Middleton's "choir", which so impressed Mr Middleton that he has asked Eddie to work on more music for him. when Twitch (Optimo) says, "Thanks. Sounds great! mad!!!", you know you got something special.
As recent live sets in Glasgow and Edinburgh have shown, Eddie's sound is one which never fails to get people moving. re-editing peices of his own work under both his Eddie Cointreau and Betamax Warriors guises and mixing them up into a whirlwind of acerbic driving acid house. taking a few reworkings of some others' music, Eddie has managed to create a liveset that is as engaging as it is visceral.
A new ep on blart:trax from Eddie is expected in the early summer, and with remixes of luke slater and radiohead about to drop including much more in the pipeline it's looks to be a prolific year for our man Cointreau.
